Approximately 50% of people are deficient in vitamin C at any one point in time. A vitamin C deficiency will impair your body's ability to fight infection and disease, heal from wounds, surgery or burns, and to effectively process cholesterol which may lead to increased levels of blood cholesterol.

Ultimately a vitamin C deficiency can result in a condition known as scurvy.

The best natural sources of vitamin C include rosehips, citrus fruits, berries, green and leafy vegetables, tomatoes, cantaloupe, cauliflower, potatoes and peppers.

These attributes are especially important for the over 45's. The use of mineral compounds serves to replace valuable electrolytes including calcium, magnesium, potassium, and sodium.

We recommend 5ml twice daily with food (breakfast and dinner) as a minimum (500mg). Three times daily is even better. If you exceed this amount, please add a magnesium supplement to your regimen.

If you have a cold or flu please increase to 2000mg per day while ill, which is 8 teaspoons per day.

Vitamin C is excreted in 2-3 hours, and it's important to have a high level of vitamin C in your blood levels at all times.
